Our Humble Beginnings

The Mid-South Tea Party has true Grassroots. This group of Average Americans, who were complete strangers, came together in late March of 2009 arranged by the efforts of Stephanie Brown, the founder of ReformPolitix.com. Through those few short weeks leading up to the April 15th Tax Day Tea Party, Stephanie kept US focused and on task.

Our meetings were filled with phrases such as, “Yes, I can do that…” and “Let me help you…” and “I’m concerned about the future of our country.” It was an amazing collaboration, filled with a passion and love of country that resulted in more than 4000 Tea Party Conspirators attending the event with their home-made signs, seeking solutions to their concerns about out-of-control government spending. This was an opportunity for like-minded citizens to come together and let their voices be heard. It was the beginning of the awakening of America's Silent Majority. After a rousing success, WE were all the more motivated to continue together to further OUR aim to have OUR consented to government hear OUR VOICES.

Soon thereafter, WE struggled together to define ourselves and OUR place in the Tea Party Movement, while planning the 4th of July Tea Party at Patriot Lake in Shelby Farms. That too, was a successful event and brought us closer together as a team. As this is being written, several Town Hall meetings have occurred and we have been a major presence at each of them. Congresswoman Blackburn’s crowd was so large that she moved her event from an indoor venue to the parking lot. With the help of the Tea Partiers, she had a sound system loud enough to answer questions from the crowd. Congressman Cohen and Senator Corker also had meetings and we were there armed with facts and questions. We will continue this momentum of face to face communication with our elected officials.

As we move forward, WE will continue organizing events and we welcome all concerned citizens to join our efforts. We believe in the GREATNESS of AMERICA and INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY.

God Bless America!
